TikTok Influencers Who Have Died By Suicide -What Is The Connection- We Should Be Concerned!

Marshawn Kneeland's Family Breaks Their Silence After His Death at 24

11/10/2025 - I am adding in Marshawn Kneeland to this list because he was an outstanding football player, and influenced many young fans. His death is another tragedy that the world is seeing. He died by suicide. A self-inflicted gunshot wound after a wild police chase. What brought this young man to the point of NO return? His mental health was weakened by the lost of his mother just one year ago. Did anyone even see the signs? Reading some thoughts from his coach, they did not. Did he hold it silently or were their signs that were missed? This is another reminded that we need to check in on our people. This validates once again that someone could be in the “SPOTLIGHT” BUT…. feeling totally alone and hopeless. RIP Marshawn Kneeland may your soul be at peace.

TikTok has the COVID-19 pandemic to thank for most of its rise in mainstream popularity. During that time, the app found tons of new people who were trapped inside of their homes, enabling some to share their lives for others to consume. Even celebrities got in on TikTok during the quarantine, posting all kinds of interesting tidbits.

The number of users on TikTok is in the hundreds of millions, and while most people who post on the app don't go on to gain hundreds of thousands of followers, some do. Whether they're fascinating in and of themselves, they have a particularly unique insight into the world, or they are incredibly hilarious, the TikTok app features some talented creators.

Sadly, while some go on to live lavish lives, not all TikTok stars get that opportunity. The rise of TikTok has also seen a rise in influencer deaths — not that the app causes them, but it does shine a light on creators who die far too young. Each of these TikTok stars made a name for themselves on the app, and they all tragically died long before they should have.

Why do we think this is happening?

There are many reasons for this uprise in death by suicide. The biggest one is not feeling accepted by the world. These influencers put themselves out there and get an adrenaline rush from the attention and climbing fan base. Then the unthinkable happens and the same fans that brought them to the top, turn on them as the on line bullying begins. It starts with negative comments, then harsh judgement and severe abuse.

That is when the break down begins, and these influencers begin to spiral. The hardest part is that many of them record their journey as they continue to seek that acceptance and recognition, only to be shot down over and over again, ridiculed, belittled and tormented. The trolls will continue to stalk them, bantering negativity until they cannot take it any longer. In the past 3 years we have seen the numbers rise tremendously in the deaths of TikTok and YouTube stars.

This is something that needs to be examined further, so we can work towards making it a safer place to be online. There has not been much focus or attention surrounding this topic, but there needs to be. It is sad that all of these individuals with bright futures felt that the only way to find peace was in death. As we end Suicide Prevention Month this is a strong reminder that we need to be more aware of the people in our circles, and that even through a computer and social media we must be mindful of our words, opinions and judgements. Our words affect people in many different ways.

I pray for all who have been lost, and for the families that they left behind to grieve.

Embrace the Journey,

God Bless
