A Broken System - Justice for Rebekah Baptiste - Another Child Gone Too Soon

SEE SOMETHING - SAY SOMETHING

This is a heartbreaking story out of Arizona. Ten year old Rebekah was living with continual abuse and torture. There were many signs and over 12 reports to DCS, but she still remained with her abusive father and his girlfriend.

How is it that so many reports can be filed, and nothing was done to help this child and her siblings? It was a horrific lifestyle for this young girl who tried to escape many times (running away), only to be brought back to her abusers. When they found her in the woods, she was unresponsive and missing finger/toes nails and hair. She had bruises all over her body. Why did NObody step in? People witnessed this abused child filled with marks.

The hardest part to hear is that NOW Arizona Department of Child Safety is investigating the situation. TOO LATE!!!! This child could have been saved, but instead, became the sacrificial lamb of a flawed system. The only bright spot out of this horrific story, is that her siblings (who were also bruised and beaten), are now out of that horrendous environment. They will have to live the rest of their lives knowing that their sister was brutally beaten and tortured to death. The healing journey will be a long and hard road for them.

Rebekah now their guardian angel, and because of her continued attempts to run away to get help saved them. She is their hero, in a story that should never have happened in the first place.

God Bless Rebekah, may her little soul be at peace.

Justice needs to be served!

Rebekah Baptiste story

The story of Rebekah Baptiste is a tragic tale of abuse and neglect that has shocked the community. Rebekah, a bright and resilient child, was found unresponsive in her home on July 27, with severe injuries and signs of abuse. She died three days later, and her death has led to an internal investigation by the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) into the agency's handling of reports of abuse and neglect. The investigation revealed that Rebekah's school had made 12 reports to the DCS over the past four years, but only one in the last year met the threshold for an investigation. The case has sparked outrage and calls for accountability within the state's child welfare system.
